The client needed the design of all M&E services and Robert Whetham Associates (RWA) were appointed directly by the client, MCR Property Group, to work alongside the design team.
Given that this was an old Grade II listed building, there were inevitably some difficulties in ensuring that all services were properly routed into the building. Our designs had to be more detailed than what we would normally be expected to produce, as we had to ensure that the features of the building were not compromised but were practical, efficient and sympathetic to the fabric of the historic building.
The project was finished on time and within budget.
The client received an energy-efficient building that met all the latest Part L Building Regulations relating to fuel and power conservation and benefitted from low energy usage. This and the building’s central location ensured that the developer was able to quickly sell off the properties to investors and homeowners looking to purchase apartments in Manchester’s vibrant city centre.
The strong demand for the Harter Street apartments is evidence of the city’s continued growth through inward investment, new infrastructure and a growing population.
