The practice was established with the ambition of providing professional, cost effective mechanical and engineering design and consultancy services, with an emphasis on creativity.

Since the practice was established, we have grown to 7 energetic members of staff, providing practical and innovative designs together with advice on a wide range of projects throughout the country.

From working with hospitals to fire stations, offices to hotels, the majority of our commissions now come from repeat business with recommendations from clients.

Rob is a Chartered Engineer who initially trained and completed an apprenticeship as an Electrician at Crown House Engineering, Manchester. He left the company to undertake full time study and graduated with a BEng (Hons) degree in Electrical Engineering from Staffordshire University in 1996.

He held positions at JDP Consulting Engineers, Reading, and PWA Parker Wilson, Manchester, where he subsequently gained valuable engineering and management experience over a wide range of sectors, including commercial, industrial, healthcare, emergency services, residential, science laboratories, education and standby emergency electrical power generation projects.

Robert established Robert Whetham Associates in early 2003, aiming to combine cutting edge design with sustainability and energy efficiency.

Robert particular interests in electrical power systems (HV and LV), standby power generation and access control & CCTV Systems has undertaken the design and project management of numerous electrical power, generation, UPS and access control & CCTV projects. He is also a member of the CIBSE Low Carbon Consultants Register.

Lee is an Electrical Engineer who began his career at ACDP, Manchester, as a trainee Building Services Engineer. He left the company to undertake full time study and graduated with a BEng (Hons) degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1996.

Following the completion of his degree, he held positions at WSP Consulting Engineers, Manchester, and PWA Parker Wilson, Manchester, before joining Robert Whetham Associates in 2006 where he was quickly promoted to the position of Associate Director.

Lee’s particular interest is in lighting design and his expertise lies in the healthcare and education sector, where he has undertaken projects at the Manchester Royal Infirmary, North Manchester Hospital, Royal Liverpool Hospital, and has recently completed the electrical services design for the Ashton-Under-Lyne Primary Care Centre. He has also carried out numerous school refurbishment projects for Oldham, Bury and Bolton MBC.

Hadley is a Mechanical Engineer who began his career at Graham Lees Partnership, Manchester, as an apprentice Building Services Engineer and studied at the University of Central Lancashire where he graduated with a BEng (Hons) Degree in Building Services in 2007.

Hadley joined Robert Whetham Associates in January 2008 and has since managed a number of projects for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, including heating and boiler plant replacement schemes at various fire stations. He has also carried out various school refurbishment projects including the refurbishment of a Grade II listed nursery building at the Hulme Grammar School in Oldham.

Hadley’s particular interest is in sustainability, renewable technologies and dynamic simulation modelling and he is a member of the CIBSE Low Carbon Consultants Register.

Lisa is an Electrical Engineer who initially began her career at Hannan Associates, Manchester, as a Trainee Electrical Engineer. Whilst working full time she also studied on a part time basis at the University of Central Lancashire where she graduated with a first class BEng (Hons) Degree in Building Services and Sustainable Engineering, she was also awarded Student of the Year 2008.

Following the completion of her degree, she held the position of Electrical Engineer at PWA Parker Wilson, Manchester, where she specialised in healthcare, working mainly for private healthcare Clients including Spire (formerly BUPA) and The London Clinic.

She joined Robert Whetham Associates in December 2009 as an Electrical Engineer.

Lisa is currently studying for a Masters Degree in Building Services and Sustainable Engineering at the University of Central Lancashire on a part time basis, and is mid way through her dissertation on lighting controls and investigating the reduction in energy usage due to the installation of technologies such as absence detection and daylight-linking.

She is due to complete her Masters Degree in 2010.

Lisa has worked extensively in healthcare, retail and commercial sectors. Lisa’s particular interests are in theatre refurbishments, installation of isolated power systems and uninterruptable power supplies. Other healthcare experience includes MRI & CT suites, intensive care and recovery facilities.
